Build a Girls Echo team

Five slots, four roles, one element cycle, and a faction bonus. Start with the frame, then pick the core that matches the units you actually own.

The five slots

01

One tank

Preservation holds the frontline. Start with Amaterasu, Athena, or Horus.

02

One healer

Medusa is the default. Aether, Seraph, or Hera cover specific teams.

03

Two damage slots

Pick a core pair such as Izanami and Nezha, or Luna and Aries.

04

One flex slot

Add the second tank, a debuffer, or a second healer the fight needs.

Four rules that change the lineup

These are the parts of team building that are easy to miss when you only compare character tiers.

Five from one faction

A full same-faction team gains 25% attack and 25% HP. Check the bonus before you break a working lineup for one stronger unit.

Resonance follows the fifth-lowest core

Linked characters rise to the level of the fifth-lowest character in your core five. Level the main team together instead of pushing one carry far ahead.

Duplicates beat tier gaps

Star upgrades come from duplicates. A developed A-tier unit can outperform an underdeveloped SS-tier unit that has no copies behind it.

Match the damage to the fight

Area damage clears story and tower waves. Single-target damage matters more for guild bosses and Ancient God Trial.

Four teams to build toward

Each core names the units that do the work and the fifth slot that holds it together. Swap the flex slot, not the engine.

A team that works before you own the meta

Starter core

Two defensive slots and two healers keep the team alive while Thor handles single-target damage. It clears early story and tower content without needing a rare damage core.

SSSAmaterasuTank
SSSMedusaHealer
SSAetherHealer and buffer
SSThorBoss damage
SSAthenaSecond tank

Substitutes

Horus, Hera, Izanami, Thanatos

Watch: Damage is lower than a dedicated Burn or Poison team. Add a damage dealer from the flex list once your tank and healer can survive without a second defensive unit.

Stack Burn, then cash it in

Burn core

Izanami raises the damage burned enemies take while Nezha gains stats against them. Seraph keeps the team up and adds attack, and Pilgrim stops enemy healing from undoing the Burn plan.

SSIzanamiBurn engine
ANezhaBurn detonator
SSeraphHealer
SSPilgrimAnti-heal and sustain

Fifth slot

Athena, Amaterasu, Heimdall, Hera

Watch: The core needs a frontline. If Izanami or Nezha dies before Burn stacks land, the damage never arrives. Put a real tank in the fifth slot.

Apply stacks, then exploit them

Poison core

Luna applies Poison and defensive debuffs, Aries and Hydra turn those stacks into damage, and Dione adds area damage reduction and attack down. The team gets stronger as the fight goes on.

ALunaPoison and debuffs
AAriesPoison payoff
AHydraPoison crit damage
ADioneDebuff tank

Fifth slot

Pilgrim, Nut, Azure, Kaguya

Watch: Poison needs time. Against enemies that burst one target early, swap Dione for a stronger tank or add a healer before the damage slots.

Keep one target under pressure

Boss core

Thor and Thanatos both convert investment into single-target damage. Athena and Medusa keep them alive, and Aether adds attack plus energy damage reduction.

SSThorMain damage
SSThanatosScaling damage
SSAthenaTank and heal block
SSSMedusaHealer
SSAetherBuffer and energy protection

Substitutes

Horus, Michael, Byakko, Genbu

Watch: Thanatos gets stronger as allies fall, but you should not plan around losing the team. Treat her stacking as a comeback tool, not a strategy.

The element cycle

Check the enemy phase before a hard stage. One favorable matchup can matter more than a tier step.

Waterbeats Fire
Firebeats Wind
Windbeats Earth
Earthbeats Water

Radiant Star has no countered element. It fits any matchup, which is one reason the two SSS units are Radiant Star.

What breaks a team

Splitting EXP

Pushing one carry 20 levels ahead of the core leaves resonance behind. Level the main five together.

No real tank

A damage unit in the frontline dies before the engine starts. Use a Preservation unit unless the fight is already trivial.

Three team plans

Burn, Poison, and boss cores compete for the same resources. Pick one, finish it, then build the next.

Team building questions

What is the best team in Girls Echo?

There is no single best team at launch. A starter core of Amaterasu, Medusa, Aether, Thor, and Athena is the most stable. Burn, Poison, and boss cores deal more damage once you have the key units and enough copies to develop them.

Does a full same-faction team matter?

Yes. Five characters from one faction gain 25% attack and 25% HP. Compare that bonus before you break a working lineup for one higher-ranked unit from another faction.

How does resonance work?

Resonance raises linked characters to the level of the fifth-lowest character in your core five. Level the main team together. Pushing one carry far ahead leaves the shared level behind.

Should I use two healers?

Early on, two healers can keep an underdeveloped team alive. Later, one healer plus a second tank or a debuffer usually produces more damage. Change the slot when the fight stops threatening a collapse.

When should I replace a lower-tier unit?

Replace it when the new unit has comparable star investment and fits the team plan. A developed lower-tier unit with copies often beats an underdeveloped higher-tier unit without them.
